Midland Adventure - Learning Through Adventure Program offers a variety of adventurous activities to both primary and secondary schools. These programs are designed to encourage team work and communication skills through adventurous activities. The Learning Through Adventure program is a Totally Mobile Program of adventurous activity units. By being mobile we hope to remove the stress of organising an activity day by removing the need to organise transportation, staff cover, etc, by delivering the activity program directly at your school site. Midland Adventure is Fully Insured to deliver these programs.

Primary Schools - The activity program is spread over a school day, starting at 9.am and finishing at 3 pm with a lunchtime break in line with the schools lunchtime - this allows pupils on the program who have school meals to still attend their normal sitting. Pupils on the program get to participate in three activities throughout the day, two activities in the morning session and one activity in the afternoon session.

Current Mobile Activity Units:-

• Air Rifles - Sometimes a controversial choice, but it is a favourite amongst young people. Using lightweight .177 target air rifles, pupils are not only taught to shoot a rifle responsibly, but also the law and penalties around air rifles and their mis-use. Taught on a short range, pupils shoot at paper target which are theirs to keep after the session has finished giving them a record of their achievement. This activity encourages hand/eye co-ordination and promotes listening skills.

• Air Soft - A favourite amongst young people. Using lightweight electric semi/fully automatic and spring loaded air soft rifles and pistols, pupils are not only taught to shoot a rifle responsibly, but also the law and penalties around air soft rifles and pistols and their mis-use. Pupils are taught on a short range to ensure a high success rate. This activity encourages hand/eye co-ordination and promotes listening skills.

• Archery - Probably our most popular activity and a firm favourite amongst young people. Using low powered re-curved bows, pupils are not only taught to shoot a bow responsibly and also some of the history of the bow and a few myths are dismissed. Pupils are taught on a short range to ensure a high success rate. This activity encourages hand/eye co-ordination, team work through encouragement and promotes listening skills.

• Problem Puzzles - Maths, but not as we know it. A selection of puzzles and shapes that challenge and encourage the pupils to work, co-operate, communicate, explore and share ideas to solve the problems laid in front of them. Promotes listening and speaking skills.

• Problem Solving / Team Building - Does what it say's on the label. A selection of activities and exercises that challenge and encourage the pupils to work as a team. Promotes communication, negotiation, co-operation, listening and speaking skills.

• Volleybird - A fun, fantastic and highly addictive game that some describe as badminton without the racquets. The volleybird is an oversized shuttlecock that can be hit with the palm or kicked with the feet. It is both recreational game and a major competitive sport that can be played indoors or out. The aim is simple, keep the volleybird off of the ground. This activity encourages hand/foot/eye co-ordination, team work and promotes listening skills.
